I really enjoyed reading this, but it never felt particularly "special" so I can't give it a super high rating.
The bones of the story are very familiar: young woman (in this case a 15 year old girl, Neryn) alone in the world (because all her family has died) travels a lonely path, avoiding attention of authorities (because she has "canny," or magical, abilities, she can see the fairy folk, and the king has forbidden magic in Alban); she crosses paths with a mysterious stranger (Flint, who is th ...more
