It's not often that a book with so little major conflict, a happy ending, and sweet and kind characters, gets the kind of acclaim that Beth Hoffman's debut novel, Saving CeeCee Honeycutt, is getting. Often compared to The Help and Steel Magnolias (or a cross between the two), it's a lovely example of what I love most about Southern Literature. Good story that demonstrates the biological need for friendship.
If you like slow southern summer reads, this book is definitely for you. The voice of CeeCee Honeycutt and her tragic family life will capture your heart in no time. Overall I love the story, especially because CeeCee is easily to like. But, there are some off parts in this book as well. Some irrelevant topics, unconvincing characters, and unfinished plots. This is Beth Hoffman's first novel and I think I could see she's still struggling with making the story flowing nicely. But hopefully there

I loved this book. It was such a sweet story! I loved the writing, but it did remind me lot of The Secret Life of Bees, hence 4 stars.
