It’s taken me ages to read my first Jo Nesbo book. For someone who likes Murder Mysteries, I don’t know why I waited so long. But I decided I should start with the first Harry Hole novel and I’m glad I did. This was an engaging, if rather grim, story. Harry is definitely out of his element, having travelled to Australia to assist with a murder involving a Norwegian woman. It was a good introduction to the character and I look forward to reading more.

decided to read the first book in the series before picking up others. now, not certain that I want to read any more. Not impressed. I guess that I cannot judge on his first book so I will give his writing another go. Hopefully there will be improvement in the next book

I had read some of the later Harry Hole novels, but went back and read this one. How interesting! What a unique and complex character Harry is. This novel was very good and I will definitely be reading more.
