What a fun story! A young lobbyist in Washington gets tied up in a scandal and loses her job. Her father has meanwhile inherited an old house in Georgia and he has the idea that she go down, fix it up, and flip it while she's trying to figure out what to do next with her life. What I liked so much about this story were the characters. I think Andrews did a fantastic job on her cast, from the cranky old woman squatting at the house to the charming lawyer and his son to the kind old handyman helpi

Unremarkable chick lit, but I'm a sucker for Mary Kay Andrews so I'll read anything new of hers.

Andrews's Southern romances remind me of an updated version of Georgette Heyer - a large and colorful supporting cast, villains getting a comeuppance, and a suitably happy ending that leaves readers with a smile.
