I picked up The Annotated Alice to help me thoroughly prepare for our upcoming bookgroup discussion of Alice in Wonderland. I don't think you could find any book that would explain and provide thoughtful commentary for the curious aspects of this very curious book. Just for fun, I also read Alice in Wonderland, illustrated by Alison Jay, along with the Disney Step into Reading version, and the board book version, Alice in Wonderland: A Colors Primer. И какво установих? Първо, че не съм Алиса, не в никакъв случай не съм Алиса. Второ, че е много трудно да решиш кое издание да четеш на български. Аз започнах с текста в "Читанка" и толкова ми хареса, че си купих книгата на "Труд". После се разочаровах, че преводът е нов, и в крайна сметка взех от голямото книжно мазе на нашите старата "Алиса", пусната от "Отечество". Highly imaginative, full of nonsense and creative twists, yet curiously philosophical. In fact, it’s the use of nonsense and absurdity that help deliver the morals and life questions so well.
It’s timeless.
Christopher Plummer is a brilliant narrator who has an endless supply of unique voices for all of the different characters. Listening was a delight.
I thought Alice in Wonderland was the better book; Through the Looking Glass is a fitting sequel, but it’s just a notch down. Either way, highly ...more

For years I felt guilty about never reading it. I tried again this year. It's just awful. In fact, for once, the Disney movie might even be better. Probably that makes me some sort of heretic, but there it is!
