Although this book suffered from the author's lack of access to the subject and her decades-long reclusiveness, there was enough information to paint an intriguing picture of one of the most important literary figures of 20th Century America.

The nagging questions of what happened to Lee's subsequent book(s) are never answered but there are lots of interesting details about Lee's childhood, the real people her characters were based on, her early years as a writer, her friendship with Truman Capot
