A religious cult. A man ceaselessly knocking on doors to collect fees for tv usage. The Little People. Two moons. A dowager. A private investigator. A bodyguard. A ghostwriter. Nine hundred and twenty-five pages of strangeness.
I could write fifty pages about this book and you’d still have no clue what this book is about. I read the whole thing and I have no idea what the whole book was about.
I liked it. But I don’t know if you’d like it or not. I suspect you would either love it or hate it.

Writing a blurb for 1Q84 must be a challenge:
"In a quest for love, an awkward math-teacher and hapless assassin..."
No, that's not it.
" When overwrought author Temaki wrote his novel he never expected to find several preteens that were violently raped OR WERE THEY.."
Ok, nope on that.
So then, where to start on this strange, nuanced, and incredibly Japanese romance?

Wow. I was really craving a Murakami book when I started this, and the first 'book' was fantastic; exactly what I was after. However, the next two books were a bit ridiculous. I expect randomness and weirdness from Murakami, but I was highly disappointed with some of the writing in the later parts of this book. The beginning of the book starts with a story that has been submitted by a 17 year old girl who has a great story, but the writing just isn't up to par. I kept wondering if this was an in
