Major misfire. I wouldn't be surprised if this book sunk his Nobel hopes. It's actually pretty good for well over half the book, but then the wheels came off. It's like he was trying achieve a page count and went all Stephen King with the padding. I may write something later, maybe not. I've spent enough time with it, that's for sure.

This book carefully blurs the lines of possible and impossible. My mouth literally dropped open more than once. Seriously? I was hooked and willing to buy into the most unlikeliest of stories. The tale is intriguing, and the prose is incredibly rich. Things are painfully explained in the most delightful, detailed fashion. I enjoyed re-reading passages, looking up interesting words, and noting quotes, to truly understand (in my own way) and appreciate the complex story - compared to my usual spee

I find it difficult to quantify my experiences with Haruki Murakami books. In particular, the author uses two devices that I am repeatedly impressed with. First, he uses fantastical elements, like Little People and a world with two moons, in such a way as to bring the reader to the brink of what they are willing to accept as true.
