First, I love Kate Atkinson's writing. It is literary fiction with subtle and clever humor that had me laughing out loud at times or smirking along with the narrator. I read this on audio book and really enjoyed the calm, intelligent-sounding, male narrator.

This is the 2nd in Atkinson's Jackson Brodie mystery series, set in Edinburgh, Scotland. It has a cast of interesting characters: a crooked real estate man and his wife, a couple Russians posing as cleaning women for a company called "FAVORS"

This was the second book in a 4 book series featuring Jackson Brodie. Of course I read them out of order, and I wish I had kept them in order. Enjoyable read, a bit long for the subject matter (a mystery, which was a bit lame). Great character development tho.

One Good Turn was a fun book to read. My only small complaint was that it took a little longer than I wanted to unveil the connections and mysteries. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a fun quirky mystery, but it requires a little patience. But if you're choosing between One Good Turn and Case Histories, I'd definitely recommend Case Histories. ...more
