4.5 stars. Loved the writing more than the mysteries, but this is a solid crime novel. There's some rough language, but assuming that doesn't bother you, this will keep you captivated.

This was my very first detective novel, if you could call it that. It was scrumptious, full of intrigue & suspense. Loved it.
The author starts this book out with a series of seemingly unrelated murder/missing child scenarios then works very hard to bring them together towards the end. I enjoyed most of the characters, Mr. Brodie especially. The characters were well done, I like that the unlikable people were not caricatures nor were they ever redeemed.
