Valuable insights into the direction of literature. Writers toil in a strange locale where they must bring the individual effort into a context, not just of literature, but of the time in which they write. Calvino does what all great writing does, which is make you think about our time and our literary heritage and wonder about the direction we should go.

And don't let the title fool you, it is only five essays, the sixth on Consistency was never written. I found the last essay on "Multiplicity" ...more

Ho riletto in una nuova versione digitale il classico di Italo Calvino "Lezioni Americane, sei proposte per il prossimo millennio". Il libro porta la data del 1985. A distanza di 30 anni Italo Calvino aveva previsto giusto. Il nuovo millennio ha bisogno di "leggerezza, rapidità, esattezza, visibilità, molteplicità." Ogni parola ha però bisogno di approfondimenti e chiarimenti. Cermanete ogni lettore avrà i suoi punti di vista. Ci sarà tempo e modo di riparlarne, anzi riscriverne ... ...more
