She's headed back in the right direction, but wasn't very ... satisfying? (3.5 stars)
So I finally read Julia Quinn's new book ... and I am happy to say that I think she's headed back in the right direction (though hasn't arrived at the destination yet). I *loved* almost all of her Bridgerton books and the books she has written since then have not even begun to compare in caliber - The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever got off to a great start and then PLUNGED downhill. Completely delightful! I loved the characters, I loved how they were with each other, I loved how the romance built so naturally, I loved that there were no forced and ridiculous misunderstandings just to heighten the drama (there WAS a ridiculous kidnapping, however - points deducted for THAT nonsense).
