The central character in this book has long saved for 'the afterlife', i.e. retirement. When his wife is diagnosed with cancer this nest egg quickly disappears. The irony of losing one's life's savings, sueing, and thus taking back one's money, is addressed as well as the plight of cancer and doing everything available in our medically advanced society.
