I really enjoy this series. The characters are great, as are the plots and the mysteries. And the historical context really comes alive. In this one, Shardlake and his assistant, Barak, are sent north, to York, to join Henry VIII’s “Great Progress”. There, they are surrounded by treacherous, grasping Nobles and the inevitable murders and mysteries that always seem to find Matthew Shardlake.
