I'd read the first in the Inspector Lynley series a while back, and vaguely remembered liking it - but have to say I think this one is pretty turgid and stodgy, and let down by large helpings of Mills and Boon style romance. About the only thing that kept me reading was wanting to find out whodunit. I have a love-hate attitude toward Elizabeth George. While her plots are interesting and clever as this one is, they could be told in many fewer words.
George layers the secrets carefully while planting just enough clues to maintain your interest without giving it away.
Another great installment in the Inspector Lynley series.
