This was a book that while I was reading it wasn't very impressed. I wasn't happy that the dog on the cover was a golden retriever instead of a Lab/Terrier/Shepard-Poodle Mix. I am not interested in car racing at all. And just looking at the cover - you'd think this book is just going to be all about a fun loving dog and his wild adventrues. You can't judge a book by it's cover.

I raced through this novel thanks to the simplistic but engaging writing style and the compelling story, and overall thought it was a great read. The strongest aspect of this book was the narrative voice of Enzo, a dog that is unlike other dogs. I almost wish this book were longer if only to draw out that wonderful voice and learn a little bit more about what goes on in the mind of this canine companion.

Light, fast read, predictable but enjoyable. A positive approach to life permeates the story. Don't expect too much erudition and you will enjoy reading the book. It seems that the negative reviews are born out of an expectation that it be an entirely different kind of book. ...more
