I absolutely loved this sweet memoir of a child living through the depression years with her parents in Yamhill, Oregon, and later in Portland, Oregon. Knowing as we do that the author describing her childhood and teen years turned out to be one of the best writers of children's literature of the last century, we celebrate with her all the early writing successes that guided her to her well-known career.
