This eighth book in the Dr. Siri Paiboun series takes the elderly coroner and most of his supporting cast of characters on a field trip. They are headed upcountry to accompany an American delegation searching for the body of an American helicopter pilot who crashed during the Vietnam War. Of course, it's not that simple, since the pilot flew for Air America , and as the search goes on, the layers of deception get slowly revealed. This is another that gets high marks for insight into how Asians view American,but not so high marks for plot. This reader has to know or guess to get the motivation and hence the perpetrator.
