He has been appointed as national coroner but spends much of his time solving the mystery of the deaths of his clients. This isn't really a mystery. I was confused by how supernatural the plot was, though it was interesting as insight into Laotian spiritual beliefs. The characters are all fairly cute and lovable and the portrayal of a country in its first moments of post-revolution Communist government is unique. Ultimately, it doesn't feel like much happens though.
