Lovely. A gripping tale of struggle, love, and loss. A beautifully written book that tells the Palestine story all through decades of tragedy, war and displacement. A tale that will rip your heart. Do yourself a favor and read it.

“Mornings in Jenin” is, I believe, the author’s labour of love. Displaced and exiled from the village of Ein Hod, the few members who remain from the Abulheja family fight for survival in the refugee camp of Jenin. Their story is picked up by the daughter, Amal, whose future is shadowed by memories of her father and her mother’s decline into an ailing, despondent, woman. Shelves: historical-fiction

A dear friend sent me this book, what an intense read! Someone mentioned it'll take you on an emotional roller coaster ride - I do believe she's correct.

This covers the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, from the Palestinian perspective. There is a lot more within the story (all very, very interesting), but in between it all you can't stop feeling that this is what people are going through right now.
