Meant to read this when it came out and finally caught up with it six years later. It's a bit of a slow burn, as a young Nigerian journalist and a salty veteran journalist are asked to help find the kidnapped wife of a British oil industry worker in the contested delta area. This was a good book that I would have enjoyed much more had there not been so many confusing flashbacks. I think the author's intent was to show the difference between facts and myth and memory and meaning but I don't see how that was enhanced by all the back and forth. In the end, I was not only often lost as to what time period we were in but it broke up the suspense of what should have been a gripping tale.
