This was a very well-researched & written book; I loved Chang's Wild Swans & read that years ago. This book is such a withering indictment on a terrible human being, who caused untold misery upon millions of his own people--without any war going on. Except a war on his own people & its culture and history. A megalomaniac, for sure, concerned only for himself & his getting power & then holding onto that power. An obviously well researched and well written book. There is an obvious bias, but the authors are honest and upfront about their views. Sometimes tough to get through if only because it can be depressing that one man had so much sway over so many people, which still baffles me.
