The third in the series of the Cousins War this novel centers around the life of Jacquetta Rivers. She was a royal in the House of Luxembourg who at the age of 15 married John, Duke of Bedford, the uncle to the infant Henry VI. Later after his death she marries below her status when she marries the Duke's groomsman, Richard Woodville. He is later given the title of Baron Rivers. So I'm just now realizing that this is third in a series (following The Red Queen and The White Queen, or vice versa, whatever) ... I had no idea it was a series. If it's one of those books that REALLY requires you to read the first books first, I'll quit it. ...more
