I should have liked this book more than I did. It was the third of a series I had read almost accidentally, and the other two were surprisingly readable in spite of my personal predjudice against historical novels. I even enjoyed the first part of this one, but once the pivotal moment occurred in this story, (notice the careful avoidance of detail in an attempt not to spoil) I began to dislike not only the heroine, but all the other people involved as well because they felt like caricatures of r
