What Members Thought
This book shows the life of First Nation, Cree during WWI, and the details of the two brother in battle and the grandmother in Canada are wonderful. I could not put this book down.

This isn't a book that is fun to read, but it is a book that stays with you after it is finished. The story is mainly about the horrors of the first world war, as experienced by a couple of young Cree Indians, and the way it changes them both. The other thread to the story is of an older Cree woman, aunt Niska, who still lives the old ways and remains at home. Accessible book on WWI trench warfare with references to windigo thrown in. If I had a friend that was reluctant to read WWI nonfiction, I would recommend this to them and hope they can absorb their history through fiction.
