This is my first Philip K Dick book. That's kind of shocking, because I've been reading science fiction for decades (but somehow I mostly skipped Dick, Heinlein, Bradbury, and Poul). Actually, for years I thought I HAD read this book. Then I saw Blade Runner, and realized I had confused "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" with "Is There Life on a Plastic Planet?" Understandable, right? (Just say "yes.")

I don't know that I "get" this...however, I do agree 100% with Rick on one very important point: pet goat > pet sheep, and I want one. ...more

Science fiction with philosophical implications, a great take on animals, and sharp, subtle humor. There's a lot of complexity and room for interpretation and thought in this novel. Very much worth several re-reads.
