This wasn't as evergreen as books 1 and 5. It's obviously dated because of the use of pagers and payphones but I didn't like some ignorant comments about people with HIV.

Harry Bosch is upset when he isn't called in to the scene of a cops suspected suicide. Harry comes to believe there may be more to the story and that the cops death ties in with two murder cases he is working. Eventually this leads Harry to Mexico. Another good read in this series. Despite all his troubles with higher ups Harry just want to see justice done which makes him an enjoyable character to read about even with the darker aspects of the book.

A well-plotted and compelling story, with an extra level of punch thanks to its unintended but prescient connections to current events south of the border.
