Although this book was one of those I looked forward to picking up each time, I did find the weaving of the legends with the main thread of the story confusing at times. When picking it up again I was never sure who I was reading about without having to go back and catch up for a few pages. While the writing is beautiful, the lack of depth to the main characters and the level of detail about minor characters is odd. Who is this book really about? Where is it taking place? Does it really matter,

Agree with Bethany- the characters didn't feel real except the Grandfather. The narrator might as well have been a robot. I did enjoy the Balkan folk tales and beliefs. It was interesting.

This book is amazing. I loved the mystery and the stories of the Tiger's wife and the man who wouldn't die. Excellent book and I highly recommend it.
