What Members Thought

I'm not a great fan of witches and witchcraft and that is the basis for this book. Although it is based on historical events and the author obviously did a great deal of research, I just couldn't get into the magic potion stuff and its cure for all ills. This one has a lot in common with The Discovery of Witches so if you've read oneand enjoyed it you should like the other.

This is one of the best books I have read in a really long time! Absolutely wonderful, interesting, thoughtful and a page-turning mystery too. It is Katherine Howe's first book and I can't wait for more!

I find Connie to be a bit slow on the uptake here (which perhaps unintentionally reinforces some of my biases against Harvard) and Howe's villain is sadly underdeveloped. That said, there's a lot of interesting history here and Howe does a solid job at refreshing what's become something of a stale story.
