Tema cărții este reprezentată de spionaj, fapt ce are la bază găsirea unei statuete îmbrăcată în aur, un șoim căutat de mai multe personaje. În ceea ce privește titlul cărții, acesta oferă suficiente informații despre mărul discordiei prezentat în roman care este, cum am mai spus, un șoim maltez din aur extrem de râvnit.

I listened to the audiobook because I'm a big fan of Bogey so now I'm off to rewatch the movie. The narrator, William Dufris, was so good, I was delighted to hear that his Cairo sounded close to the actor playing Cairo in the movie, Peter Lorre.

A good example of the noir type of mystery. Sam Spade definitely depicts the hard boiled detective of this era. Sam's partner is murdered and he becomes involved with a group of people searching for the elusive falcon.

Didn't enjoy all of the characters voiced on this audiobook, but did like the reading and the story overall.
