Read this with a bookclub years ago and really enjoyed it. Images stay with me from instances in the book. The movie also captured the essence of the book fairly well.
An entertaining and easy read. Not as dark as the reviews will tell you, but definitely an interesting look into the seedy world of depression-era circuses.
A fast and easy read. The book was entertaining enough, but I think the writing is missing something.
Water for Elephants is an amazing book! It is a look at an old-time circus from the point of view of a nonagenarian who worked in one for many years. The human story that unfolds just keeps the reader turning pages, while the view of what a circus was really like was fascinating.
