I've been intending to read one of these Aimee Leduc mysteries ever since I first served as an author escort for Cara Black at the Texas Book Festival years and years ago. What better time to read the first book in the series, Murder in the Marais, than just before heading out on a trip to France where I will be staying in the Marais?

I enjoyed reading this mystery. I liked the characters. I especially liked the way Aimee Leduc uses disguises to change her appearance during her investigations.

Wow, Aimee, you are so French. You are everything American women want French women to be. You are mildly entertaining, and I like Paris, and every once in a while I like pretending I'm French, so maybe I'll read a few more of your adventures and see if you get a *little* less stereotypically EFFORTLESSLY FASHIONABLE FRENCH WOMAN OMG.

I'd give this 3.5 stars if I could. Life's been some kind of crazy for the past couple of weeks and I was unusually slow and scattered in reading the book. I loved the French setting - you can tell Cara Black has lived in Paris. I really liked Aimee Leduc as the heroine and will definitely read more in this series. ...more
