The characters, though not likeable, were captivating. Getting to the end of the story was like watching a disaster in progress and you can't look away as it is both that interesting and awful.

I have to keep thinking about this book and the characters' decisions to figure out more of the symbolism.

The Church of Christ with No-Christ is the conceit that O'Connor uses to skewer the fundamentalist mindset. Maybe I'm just getting to jaded by too many books, but I badly wanted to laugh and enjoy the mocking, but it fell just a little flat for me. ...more
