A good story, but I lost interest about 2/3rds of the way through. Kept thinking I had better things to do than continue reading about a boy and his dogs....but I did finish, and I don't see what all the hype was about. Not my cup of tea.

I really enjoyed reading this book, and fell in love with the characters, especially Edgar. But the ending stinks! It's rushed and random, and it left me wondering why I had spent all that time reading the book only to be disappointed.

Beautifully written in many ways, particularly in the descriptions of the dogs, their behavior, and the ways we shape it. I went into the story knowing its ties to Hamlet, so the narrative is less surprising but still well done and a pleasing homage to the master dramatist. One of those books that's quiet but oddly forceful - kind of like a dog manipulating your hands for a pat on the head.

I was listening to this book in my car and when the narrator said, 'The End', I was completely stunned! I was really enjoying the story, waiting for some conclusion I hadn't thought of yet and then it ended, just ended! I guess it is supposed to keep me thinking about it for days now but I'm just frustrated and upset with it. Really a let down. DONE! Moving on to other books!
