I have a soft spot for these sorts of microhistories, and when you add the mystery and Chicago elements it's pretty much a given that it's a favorite of mine. Well-paced and a great snapshot of Chicago's debut as the Second City.

This book was amazing! A little slow at the beginning as there was a lot of back story to set up, but the story was so worthwhile. Murder, suspense, politics, design and history all rolled into one compelling story. Wow!
