My first thought when I finished this book was that it was beautiful. It made me cry a lot, especially at the end but basically it's a wonderful story that deeply explores the way people mourn and how they get on with life after loss. I can't say much more or I'll ruin the story but it really is an interesting look at the meaning of life. How is it that it took me eight years to read this book? The 9/11 parts gave me "heavy boots" but Oskar made it so worth the hard stuff.
