Another Cormac McCarthy book under my belt. This was a good read, not nearly as heavy or dense as "Blood Meridian." I think the movie of this book did an excellent job of depicting the main events & themes in the book.

McCarthy's spare style is so perfectly suited to his setting and characters here - he captures the essence of surface calm with roiling emotions underneath incredibly well.
