Wharton is one of my favorite authors for the descriptions of New York and high society of the late 19th century. Her stories may have been limited in scope as to the reality of the time but it reminds one of the glittering illusion of the super rich through a tinted looking glass.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit but I would have loved it if the characters
had felt more three dimensional rather than like stick figures there to demonstrate the author's social commentary.

Another book I was inspired to read after viewing the movie. The movie followed the book almost verbatim and was a beautiful adaptation.
