This is an excellent novel of the human side of the Russian Revolution. It tells the story of two girls, Anna and Sofia, who are imprisoned in a labor camp in Siberia, and of the lengths Sofia goes to, to save Anna. Despite the harshness of the climate, circumstances, and life, glimpses of humanity shine through where they are least expected. This is an absorbing story that pulls you in and doesn't let you go until you have finished the last page. ...more
