A remarkable book and worthy classic. That said, it was hard to get into because when I expected a nice story, I got a lengthy memoir about work in a customs house instead. It took many pages to get used to Hawthorne's weighty writing style. However, I'm not a quitter - especially when I want to add a classic to my list of books already read.
