Powerful! Steinbeck's writing is masterful. I love how he alternates the chapters between the Joads' story and the experiences commonly shared among all migrant workers. The dialogue & descriptions are poetry. And the themes are so sadly real- especially the deep selfishness that led the proverbial 1% to merciless sink the rest into destitution. The fear that continued the cycle of scraping a fragile existence together by taking away from someone else continues to play out in our society. Many p
