I read this book for the first time many years ago and recently decided to pick it up again. It is just as good as I remember it being. I'm fascinated by the story and the characters. I also enjoy the way Irving weaves in political and historical events from the '60s, '70s and '80s, all revealed through the words and various perspectives of his characters. Much of his commentary is spot on and still relevant today.
