What Members Thought

I've read most of McCarthy's books, and he's an American original, no doubt. He's also, often, one of our darkest writers. For example, Blood Meridian has to be the bloodiest book I've ever read. And Outer Dark is, well, Dark. Then came his Border Trilogy. You can see the Light coming through. But at the end of Cities of the Plain, you could see the Darkness returning. Indeed, the weirdness of that book's ending signals to some extent The Road.
