My second Cormac McCarthy read, which I also thoroughly enjoyed. McCarthy is an amazing wordsmith, using sparse, dense language that paints a convincing picture, though in a minimalist manner.
This story was so so good. A hard but rich story. I have a little thing for post-apocalyptic stories as is, but The Road in particular was beautifully told.

What a disappointment. I have been wanting to read this one forever!
Boring. No plot. No characterization. No dialogue. No background. This book is not even scary!
Then...it is also chock-full of pseudo-deep philosophical lines like this: "Who is it? said the boy. I dont know. Who is anybody?"
I was laughing out loud at moments like that, but I don't think this is supposed to literary satire, is it?
I was ready to shoot that boy who all he did was cry and say he was cold.
This book makes no sense wh ...more

Really liked the writing that i would qualify of poetic prose ...

Haunting depiction of the end of the world, and a true story of survival. I think McCarthy perfectly captured the relationship between the father and his son.
