McEwan chronicles suburbia as if it was a crime scene. The underlying violence seems to seep through the civilized cracks and infect the protagonists. The first person narrator puts you in a delicate balance of trust/mistrust throughout and I only felt a little manipulated by the end, but it was the good kind -- where you know the author is pulling your strings, but he did it well enough that you don't care. ...more

I read this book two years ago and the most interesting fact I recall about it is the way love is described. I think it is the modern society that twisted all that inspired Ian McEwan in this novel.
My copy of this book is in romanian.

Took a while. ... I thought it was too much of a "head game " for me, but I must have been tired or too extended at the time. A good read.
