Loved it. Wanted more. Another view of that time that is redeeming, though the characters could have been more fleshed out. It seemed like a surface telling of a much deeper and richer story.

One of the most interesting Afghanistan books I've read--and I've read several the last few years. What a courageous woman!

Very interesting and inspiring!

So interesting. With all of the American regulations, labor laws, building codes (all of which have a good purpose) this type of bootstrapping happens so little here, yet it is the way to personal freedom (well, as much personal freedom is possible) for 3rd world women. Very courageous story.

This is the type of research I'd love to be out there

I'm not sure why so many suggest reading this book.

It's not interesting - NOTHING happens! It's supposedly non-fiction, but to think someone can learn to make a dress (good enough to sell) in a few hours, and then provide countless stories with fashionable wear (and make a profit) while families can't even feed their children is ridiculous! It's also not that well written.

...soooo.. I wouldn't recommend it.
