I enjoyed reading this poetic short novel for middle grade children.

Beautifully and crisply written. Maybe crisp isn’t the right feeling. Things that I loved: words that make pictures and show feelings, family members who don’t always get it right but mostly are also doing their best, complicated feelings not brushed aside or over explained, impressions of classmates and foods and school experiences and neighbors’ reactions that feel true.
