This is really a novella. What a great story this is. I won't say much about the plot, except that Chris is a soldier during WWI. His wife and sister find out that he has been transported to a hospital in England from Flanders field. ...more

I had high hopes for this one. World War I is a biggie with me. And then the author, too, is very good. Plus it has been on my TBR for years. But, I wasn’t expecting a novella about a shellshocked veteran to take a somewhat irreverent tone. It may be, like Orbital, it is best to read it and not listen to it. It was “fine” just not amazing.
