Historical Fiction is not my go-to genre, because I would rather read History. Having said that I have found some gems over the years: Jaan Kross' Estonian Trilogy and Miklos Banffy's Transylvanian Trilogy. Wolf Hall is another worthy one. I admit that I am not an expert on Tudor England, but it was fun reading this since I have been dipping into Shakespeare's historical plays (Richard III being a favorite).

I think I am probably one of the last people on earth to only just be getting around to reading this novel. My intentions were good. I purchased a copy ages ago but it just sat gathering dust on my bookshelf waiting to be read. When I saw the BBC were making a television series based on this book and its sequel Bring up the Bodies and which starts this evening, I thought it was high time to get it read.

While I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I really need to reread it and pay more attention to the relationships. I am not well versed in English history and even Henry VIII and Cromwell are not yet good friends of mine. This is what the reading challenge is good for.
