What a strange book. I wonder what made Kubrick want to make a movie of this story. I will need to see the movie. The language that Alex and his droogs use is a bit annoying and I must not understand how it relates to the social pathology of the characters. I also do not really understand why chapter 7 of the 3rd part was omitted in the US version of the book nor why it is controversial. The view of violence as a form of entertainment and distraction of young males has a lot of memories of people and events from high school, and this "dystopia future" reminded me a lot of the past.
The made up language was fun and added immensely to the enjoyabilty of the read. Though the authors damning introduction and additional chapter raised questions about why one was reading the book at all. Sad the author ended up hating this one of his children. ...more
